9.05 Polling turnout in Andhra Pradesh in first two hours

Andhra Pradesh polled over 9% in the first two hours of Monday’s election to elect 175 MP seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats. According to the Election Commission, the voter turnout in the Lok Sabha constituency was 9.05 percent at 9 am. More than 4.14 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in 46,389 polling stations. They will decide the political fate of 2,841 candidates. Voting for 169 assembly constituencies will continue till 6 pm. In the Left Wing (LWE)-affiliated Araku, Paderu and Rampachodavaram constituencies, polling will end at 4 pm.

Currently, on the three areas affected by LWE, namely Palakonda, Kurupam and Salur, it ends at 17.00 WIB. In the 2019 election, the state’s vote share has reached 79.84%. Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N. Chandrababu Naidu, Jana Sena leader and actor Pawan Kalyan and 2,387 other candidates are contesting for 175 parliamentary seats. There are 454 contestants contesting for the 25th Lok Sabha. Prominent names among them include former Union minister and BJP president D. Purandeswari, state Congress president Y.S. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
