KedarnathYatra 2024:  Pilgrimage Turns Fatal, 42 Devotees Die In 13 Days

Kedarnath Dham has become the site of the highest number of casualties, with 19 pilgrims killed in just 13 days. Kedarnath and Yamunotri Dham both had 12 fatalities, while Badrinath and Gangotri Dham had nine and two deaths, respectively. Devotees over the age of 55 died primarily from heart attacks and other diseases.

The Chardham Yatra of 2024, an periodic passage accepted by innumerous addicts, has taken a woeful turn as it coincided with the unfortunate loss of 42 lives. As pilgrims embarked on their spiritual trip to the sacred destinations of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, the joy of passage has been transcended by the tragedy of these early deaths.

The passage, which commenced on May 10 with Gangotri- Yamunotri and Kedarnath Dham and followed by the opening of the Badrinath Dham on May 12, to drink over 800,000 addicts within 13 days, it has been marred by the early demise of 42 pilgrims, as reported by the Uttarakhand State Emergency Operation Center. Authorities said the figure was collected until 530 pm on Wednesday.

Kedarnath Dham has been the point of the loftiest number of casualties, with 19 pilgrims losing their lives in a span of just 13 days. Following Kedarnath, Yamunotri Dham witnessed 12 losses, while Badrinath and Gangotri Dham reported 9 and 2 deaths independently. The departed addicts, all progressed above 55, succumbed substantially to heart attacks and other affections.

Expressing concern over the raising death risk, the Uttarakhand government has been constantly prompting pilgrims, particularly those aged 55 and over, to suffer health wireworks before embarking on the Chardham Yatra. Emphasising the significance of pilgrim health, authorities have advised individualities supposed unfit by medical professionals to postpone their passage until they’re in better health. Despite these advisories, some pilgrims have chosen to do with the passage, filling tone- threat forms and disregarding medical advice.

The laborious terrain and harsh rainfall conditions pose significant challenges to pilgrims, especially considering the journey of roughly 5 kilometers to reach Yamunotri Dham and a emphatic 16- kilometre trip to Kedarnath Dham. The combination of steep rise and extreme cold wave has proven fatal for numerous senior addicts and those battlingpre-existing affections, performing in unfortunate circumstances.
