Border Security Force officials fired multiple shots at a drone suspected to be Pakistani and shot it down near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday. Officials said the cross-border drone activity was detected by alert border guards at Khantal Barracks around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The military said it fired more than 30 shots to shoot down the drone. An alarm has been sounded and the entire area has been put on alert, officials said, adding that a large-scale search operation was launched this morning to decontaminate the area.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have announced a reward of Rs 300,000 for anyone who reports drones flying across the border to drop weapons, drugs and recover materials.
