CS and DGP of Andhra Pradesh Appear Before Election Commission

Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Secretary (CS) and Director-General of Police (DGP) appeared before the Election Commission in Delhi in response to continued violence in the state during and after election day. The Election Commission summoned CS Jawahar Reddy and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta to Delhi in response to its orders.

The CS and DGP flew to Delhi today to personally appear before the Election Commission, where they explained the situation in the state. There have been serious critiques of the police’s failure to contain violence during and after the Andhra Pradesh elections. Opposition parties have levelled accusations against CS Jawahar Reddy’s operating procedures. In this backdrop, the summons of the CS and DGP by the Election Commission represent the  seriousness of the situation in Andhra Pradesh.
