Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Friday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his reelection, a record third term in office. In a post on Twitter, the tech billionaire said his company would soon be investing in the country. “Congratulations @narendramodi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic election,”
Musk wrote. “I look forward to my company doing exciting work in India,” he added. In April this year, Musk postponed a planned visit to India, citing “very heavy commitments to Tesla.” He was scheduled to visit the country on April 21 and 22 and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Musk later said he was looking forward to coming to India this year. “Unfortunately, due to my extensive Tesla commitments, my visit to India will have to be postponed, but I am very much looking forward to traveling to India later this year,”
Musk posted on X. Musk met with PM Modi in June last year. The US expressed confidence that Tesla will soon enter the Indian market with Starlink. Tesla is likely to set up a manufacturing unit and make major investments in India. Last year, Tesla approached the Indian government seeking a reduction in import duties on its cars into India.
