The CWPRS, which specializes in hydraulic research, will focus on three essential areas to estimate the longevity of the structures.

It has conducted dam break studies for a variety of projects, including Mallana Sagar, the Khadakwasla system, Gandhamala Dam, Kanhar Dam, and Tilaya Dam. Its studies also assist in assessing the potential consequences of dam breakdowns and developing emergency response plans. The CWPRS is scheduled to conclude the preliminary investigations in a few days. It would go back to its headquarters to review the findings. Full-scale studies would be conducted on all three barrages of the Kaleshwaram project using specialist equipment, authorities added.

The State administration has made it plain to the central organizations that their studies must be finished in the shortest feasible period so that the implementation agencies can establish the priorities. rehabilitation works before the onset of monsoon.

The Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), which received a request from the State government to conduct additional examinations into the three barrages, also reacted positively. It had previously provided a list of equipment and technology necessary for examining the project’s flaws. Some of the tools that are not accessible in the state will be purchased from manufacturing facilities elsewhere in the country.

The Hyderabad-based National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), which is also anticipated to participate in the investigations, could not reply promptly since its directors are concerned with crucial responsibilities in Chennai, authorities added.
