Caretaker Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing to take pledge for a third straight term as the head of a coalition government with the BJP- led National Democratic Alliance members unanimously taking him as its leader in a meeting in the public capital on Wednesday. Besides Modi, who chaired the meeting, and BJP s Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and J P Nadda, as numerous as 21 leaders from 16 parties attended the meeting including crucial leaders TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, LJP( R) leader Chirag Paswan, JD( S) leader H D Kumarawamy, Jana Sena s Pawan Kalyan, AGP s Atul Bora and NCP s Praful Patel.
NDA MPs will meet on June 7 to formally handpick Modi as their leader and the alliance leaders will also go to the President to submit their letters of support, PTI reported HAM( temporal) leader and former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi saying after attending the meeting. The new government is likely to be sworn in on June 8, as sources said there’s a view to wrap up the formalities snappily to
