Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad constituency in the third round of seven-phase parliamentary elections on Tuesday, urging voters to exercise their right to vote like adults to celebrate democracy. After casting his vote at the Nishan High School polling booth in Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister pointed to his tattooed finger and said, “Today is the third phase of voting. In our country, “Dan” is of great importance, and in this sense, the inhabitants of the country should vote as often as possible. There are 4 rounds of voting left.

As a voter from Gujarat, he said, “This is the only place where I vote regularly and this is where Amit Bhai is running as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate…” The Prime Minister said on microblogging site X, “I have voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections! I encourage everyone to do so and strengthen our democracy.

Prime Minister Modi praised the country’s election process and said, “The conduct of the elections sets an example for the democratic countries of the world.” He emphasized the need to study Indian elections in major universities around the world.

The Prime Minister noted that elections are held in about 64 countries and said that everything must be compared. “This year is like a celebration of democracy… I repeat to the people of the country to vote en masse and celebrate the celebration of democracy,” PM Modi added.

The prime minister congratulated the election committee for “conducting the first two stages of the elections without violence”.”I congratulate the Election Commission for the fact that the first two phases of the elections were conducted without violence. “I also congratulate the Election Commission for conducting the elections in a voter-friendly manner,” he said. Not only this, the Prime Minister also interacted with the public who had gathered outside the polling booth to catch a glimpse of the leader. He signed memorabilia, posters and sketches. He warmly shook hands with the people in the crowd and snapped selfies with them.

Home Minister Amit Shah is contesting from Gandhinagar constituency, a BJP stronghold since 1989. The constituency went to the Saffron and Shankersingh Vaghle camp in 1989 and has not voted for any other party since then. All seven assembly segments in Gandhinagar LS constituency are held by the BJP. Not only Amit Shah represents the Congress seat, current Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel also represents Katludia constituency, which is also part of this LS seat.

Unlike his predecessor, Shah is a popular and high-ranking representative in parliament. According to local reports, voters seem to value his active presence and intervention. Hardly a month or festival goes by without the Shah coming to his constituency to open an event or lay the foundation for a project. The third phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections will see voting in 94 constituencies across 10 states and one Union Territory. In the first two stages of this survey, the participation rate was 66.14 percent in the first stage (April 29) and 66.71 percent in the second stage (April 26).

Notably, elections in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag Rajouri, which were earlier scheduled in Phase 3, have been postponed to Phase 6. The elections in Betul in Madhya Pradesh, which were earlier scheduled in Phase 2, will now be held in Phase 3.
