Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired a review meeting at his official residence here on the Kuwait fire disaster in which several Indian nationals were killed and many injured.
PM Modi also announced a voluntary assistance of Rs 20 lakh from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund to the families of the deceased Indian nationals.
The Prime Minister expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident and offered condolences to the families of those who died. He prayed for a speedy recovery for the injured.
PM Modi directed his government to provide all possible assistance. “The State Department should immediately visit Kuwait to monitor the rescue efforts and facilitate the speedy repatriation of the remains,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister Kirtivardhan Singh, First Secretary to the Prime Minister Pramod Kumar Mishra, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister Vinay Kwatra and other senior officials.
