Hyderabad: After suffering over ten days of stifling heat, Telangana residents may now expect some relief with the onset of rain and thunderstorms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Hyderabad has issued a yellow signal for the state for the next three days.
Telangana is anticipated to have strong thunderstorms beginning May 6 and lasting till May 9, with lightning and squalls affecting major districts. However, an orange signal has been issued for Monday, signifying a heat wave in many Telangana districts.
According to the IMD Hyderabad forecast, isolated regions of Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Mulugu, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana are expected to experience prolonged heatwave conditions on Monday.
Temperature in Telangana rises to 47.1 degrees Celsius: Meanwhile, nearly 70 places in over 15 districts of the state registered temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Velgatoor in Jagtial recorded 47.1 degrees Celsius, while Godhuru and Allipur in Jagityal trailed closely behind with 46.8 and 46.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
In addition, sporadic rainfall was reported in Khammam, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanmakonda districts. Hyderabad reached 42.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while Golconda and Kukatpally registered 44 degrees Celsius. Saroornagar reached 43.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Asifnagar with 43.6 degrees Celsius.
Following the thunderstorms, temperatures are forecast to range between 41 and 44 degrees Celsius in other regions.
