Secunderabad: Voters will get a new experience on Monday when they enter 20 polling booths set up on the ‘RRR’ (reduce, reuse and recycle) scheme in Secunderabad Cantonment. This concept was introduced to ensure 100 percent voter turnout on polling day as per the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana. TOI visited six polling stations on Sunday and found a sense of joy everywhere. For example, at one of the TPS, car tires are painted in different colors and displayed. In other designs, the cap is cut into a wedge shape. This hat can also be used to place flowers and decorative plants in the house and garden. In another TPS, used water containers were made into beautiful wooden shelters with the help of steel rods.
The slogan “No to single-use plastic” is also written on the board and placed in a prominent place. Officials also set up RRR-style frames where voters (primary voters and others) can take selfies showing their inked fingerprints. – The Secunderabad District Council has set up eco-friendly polling booths in addition to sample ballots to promote the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle. D Madhukar Naik, electoral officer of Secunderabad Cantonment said that these stores have been set up as a result of our commitment to reduce waste and promote recycling.
