TSCSB saves Rs 60 lakh of Hyderabad woman cheated by fraudster

A fraudster claiming to be an officer of Maharashtra Police cheated a woman to the tune of Rs 60 lakh to save her from a plutocrat laundering case, but on the damage of the complaint, the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau acted fleetly to put the transfer of the entire quantum on hold.

The woman, a occupant of Cyberabad, entered a call from an unknown number on May 15.

The frequenter claimed that he was an officer of the Maharashtra police and stated that she was involved in a major plutocrat laundering case and that a leave was pending against her.

According to the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau( TSCSB), the fraudster forced the victim to be on a Skype videotape call throughout the entire night and kept warning her of dire consequences.

Due to fear and as per the advice of the fraudster, the victim transferred Rs 60 lakh to the account mentioned by unknown persons the following morning.

After transferring the quantum, she realised that it was a fraud and incontinently called the cybercrime helpline number 1930 of TSCSB.

The helpline incontinently uploaded sale details on CFCFRMS portal, advised the State Bank of India to which the quantum was fraudulently transferred and assured that the entire quantum was put on hold within one hour.

TSCSB said that this is an illustration of nippy action by the victim in reporting the crime on 1930 within the golden hour and by the 1930 helpline staff in waking the concerned banks and interdicting the fraudulent plutocrat from going into the hands of suspects.

TSCSB director Shikha Goel appreciated and awardedsub-inspectorG. Shirsiha, constablesT. Rehman andB. Krishna of 1930 call centre who acted instantly and made sure that the entire quantum was put on hold.

The director informed people that no police or government agencies make videotape/ skype calls to any person.

If they admit any similar calls they shouldn’t respond. She also stated that police or government agencies noway ask for transfer of any quantum by any means.

If any member of the public receives any similar calls request they should incontinently inform us on 1930 orcybercrime.gov.in, she said.
